Compulsory Helmets for Motorcyclists?

Abstract
To the Editor: All motorcyclists are not young fools; many are solid citizens commuting inexpensively to work or cycling for outdoor recreation. These people will wear helmets whatever the laws. Why not allow the rest to ride — and crash — bareheaded? If this group had 2500 fatal accidents per year, 90 per cent young people and 80 per cent smashed brains, that could yield about 4000 young kidneys, which are really needed. There would also be a lot of useful livers, hearts and other organs useful for surgical or chemical "recycling."Why not just request motorcyclists to carry an . . .Keywords
