Abstract
Avascular necrosis is a common problem and can be a grossly disabling condition in young patients. Magnetic resonance imaging has revolutionized the diagnosis and assessment of early cases. Core decompression of the femoral head may promote venous drainage and reduce the risk of progressive collapse towards osteoarthritis.
