Abstract
A preparation method for sections of powder particles has been developed, where the particles are embedded in the Ni(P) foil deposited on a Ni substrate by electroless plating and then ion-thinned together with the foil. Ni powder particles, produced by chemical vapour deposition or liquid-phase reduction, were thinned by this method, and were observed by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. The Ni particles often contained subgrains with sharp boundaries such as (111) twin boundaries. Keywords
