Abstract
General features of the use of spiral grids in the Moiré technique are analysed theoretically. Equations of various types of Moiré fringe patterns are presented, which relate to superposition of circular, spiral, and parallel‐line grids.Goniometric compensation is proposed on Moiré fringes. The question of differentiation of the sign of strain is solved. Comparison is made with pure circular‐grid systems. The principles developed are aimed at strain measurements with the use of Moiré gauges. Keywords
