Abstract
Transmembrane signalling refers to the process of transfer of information from the extracellular world into the intracellular space. The information is transduced through several possible pathways. The significance of cell surface dynamics, ion channel activity and drug effects are discussed in the signal transmission, with special reference to Na+ channels and the Ca2+ sensitive potassium channels. Keywords
