Oral Glucose Clearance Time in Caries-Active and Caries-Resistant Naval Recruits

Abstract
The oral glucose clearance time was determined in 2 groups of naval recruits. One group was composed of men who had no decay, missing or filled teeth (DMFT = 0). Individuals in the other group averaged 23 DMFT. Subjects rinsed with a glucose solution. A drop of saliva was placed on glucose indicator paper every 3 min. until there was no indication of glucose. The mean clearance time was 12.2 min. for the caries-resistant group and 11.9 min. for the high-caries group. There was no significant differences in oral clearance between the groups.
