Abstract
A method is described for the isolation from dried Bryophyllum calycinum leaf tissue of threo-Ds-isocitric acid as the monopotassium salt of the lactone. Overall yields of 49 to 62% of the isocitric acid in the organic acid extract were obtained. Some of the properties of this salt are described. The preparation of (−)-isocitric acid lactone, and of the monoammonium, monorubidium, and lithium salts of the lactone is also described. Keywords
