Chances of Reactive Extraction of Primary and Secondary Metabolites

Abstract
Reactive extraction of special metabolites is of interest, since the technique can provide higher distribution coefficients than pure physical extraction. In addition, very polar carboxylic acids can only be extracted by using extractants such as organophosphorus compounds or high molecular weigth amines. In this paper, the extraction of typical metabolites such as penicillin G and α amino acids is discussed in regard to the nature of the extractant and modifier used.
