Abstract
The observed superconductivity in the stage-1 graphite—alkali-metal intercalation compounds (GIC's) is modeled using both graphite bands and intercalate bands. The anisotropy observed in the superconducting properties is explained in terms of the anisotropy of the Fermi surfaces of the GIC's.
