Abstract
Under conditions of sulphur deficiency sulphur bound in glucosinolates of Brassica species can be remobilized by enzymatic cleavage. The trigger mechanism for the control of the myrosinase activity is supposed to be related to the ascorbate/glutathione cycle (Schnug & Haneklaus, 1993). Studies investigating the influence of the sulphur supply on glucosinolate, glutathione and ascorbate concentrations in vegetative plant tissues reveal a close relationship between sulphur status and glucosinolate resp. glutathione contents whereas such interdependencies are less distinctive for ascorbate. Keywords
