Abstract
Taking into account the direct optical coupling between two sections, a theory of stability of double-section semiconductor lasers is established. Formulas showing necessary and full conditions for the occurrence of self-pulsation and bistability are obtained. Several experimental results previously published are explained theoretically. Keywords
