Abstract
Five pairs of monozygous twin dairy cows were used to determine the effects of feeding 10 mg/1000 lb body weight daily of diethylstilbestrol (DES) on production and composition of milk and on body weight and efficiency of production of milk. Twins fed DES produced 13% more 4% fat-corrected milk, and were 6% more efficient in milk production than their control mates. Milk produced by the DES-treated cows was similar to butterfat and solids-not-fat content to that of the controls. Except in one pair twins fed DES gained less weight than their controls. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
