Abstract
A miniaturized MPO type connector has been constructed employing a compact two-fiber ferrule for high-density optical duplex connection. The connector has a high packaging density of 2.8 fibers/cm/sup 2/. Fabricated miniaturized MPO type connectors for two-fiber ribbons exhibit a low insertion loss of 0.12 dB and 0.01 dB for single- and multimode fibers, respectively, and a high return loss of more than 50 dB.Keywords
