Abstract
A perspective on the age old question “How do we train and educate managers?” is provided. The central assumptions underlying most management education and development are at odds with the findings of many studies of management. Programmes for education should teach skills and techniques which relate to: (1) functions and activities to be performed, and (2) the needs and assumptions of specific groups of managers. The need for this proposal is based on the findings of two managerial studies. Keywords
