Incorporation of Linoleic Acid by the Cestode Hymenolepis diminuta (Rudolphi, 1819)

Abstract
In vitro studies with Hymenolepis diminuta indicate that this cestode is capable of absorbing exogenous linoleic acid and incorporating this fatty acid into its tissue lipids. Approximately 80% of the incorporated linoleic acid is associated with the esterified fatty acids. Tissue section autoradio-graphs and electron microscopy reveal that this lipid is deposited primarily in fat droplets of the medullary parenchyma.
