Abstract
Uterine artery embolisation is rapidly gaining widespread acceptance as an alternative to surgery for the treatment of symptoms related to uterine myomas We used gelatin sponge pledgets to embolise 13 women with symptomic uterine myomas Our results suggest that the effectiveness of this temporary embolic agent is similar to that of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) If larger studies corroborate this finding, we may be able to offer this procedure to women who wish to preserve their fertility. Keywords
