Abstract
The bicapped tetrahedral osmium carbonyl, [Os6(CO)18] undergoes a reversible structural transformation when treated with reducing agents to give [Os6-(CO)18]2–, the spectroscopic properties of which are consistent with a regular octahedral Oh osmium geometry; the compounds [H2Os6(CO)18] and [HOs6(CO)18]– are produced upon acidification of this dianion. Keywords
