Methadone-Induced Pulmonary Edema

Abstract
A 19-year-old former heroin addict developed pulmonary edema within six hours after the oral ingestion of 80 mg of methadone hydrochloride and recovered rapidly and without sequalae, with vigorous ventilatory support. This complication has been observed following intravenous overdosage with morphine and heroin, but has not previously been recorded after methadone ingestion.
