The potential for uric acid precipitation has not been emphasized. We wish to report a case of severe acute renal failure that was probably due to acute urate nephropathy induced by ticrynafen.A 45-year-old woman was referred to Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital in Medford, OR, with oliguric renal failure five days after initiating ticrynafen therapy. She had been treated for essential hypertension with 100 mg of hydrochlorothiazide and 120 mg of propranolol daily for one year. Before antihypertensive . . .Keywords
