Abstract
Dynamic polarizability of He and isoelectronic ions has been calculated by a self‐consistent variation–perturbation method. An interpolation relation has been obtained which may be used to estimate the polarizability of ions in actual crystals under the influence of a radiation field. Representations of excited states have been obtained. They compare favorably with more accurate calculations available. The advantage of the present method lies in its simplicity. It can be easily extended to atoms containing many electrons.
