Abstract
In the Greek parliamentary election of 2 June 1985, the Socialists were returned to power, confirming the view that socialism in Greece is becoming an important and integral part of Greek political culture. This article assesses the rival policies of the leading parties, and analyses the reasons for Pasok's victory and New Democracy's failure. It concludes with a look at the government's probable future programme and the oppositions needs for reform. Keywords
