Abstract
A methylcholanthrene-induced tumor [C-1] of BALB/c (H-2d) origin expresses H-2 antigens [Ag] normally associated with the H-2k haplotype. The molecules expressing the alien Ag were partially purified and were distinct from molecules expressing normal H-2d Ag. Like normal H-2 Ag, the alien Ag have a MW of 48,000, are glycoproteins and are noncovalently bound to .beta.2-microglobulin. The alien Ag differ from normal H-2 Ag in their susceptibility to papain digestion, behavior during gel filtration and overall stability. Possible mechanisms accounting for the expression of the alien Ag are discussed. This publication has 28 references indexed in Scilit:
