Abstract
A technique of internal anal sphincterotomy for anal fissure by the mid-lateral subcutaneous route is described. The operation avoids the “key-hole” deformity which occasionally follows the standard midposterior sphincterotomy. Lateral subcutaneous internal sphincterotomy resulted in rapid healing of the fissure with little discomfort and disturbance of anal function. Keywords
