Abstract
The Porton Diffusion Sampler (PDS) responds to many volatile organic substances and has qualities which are ideal for environmental surveys. These have been tested during early stages of development by use in surveys where MEK and styrene were monitored. The device compares favourably with the conventional personal sampler and is shown to have advantages particularly for group monitoring where the requirement is in excess of 50 instrument hours per day and where there are no skilled occupational hygiene staff in attendance. The authors expect the sampler to become a basic tool in occupational hygiene practice. Keywords
