Abstract
The deuteron photo- and electrodisintegration processes γdΔΔ and edeΔΔ are shown to be probes of the electromagnetic properties of Δ(1236), on the basis of a Δ-exchange-reaction mechanism. The presence of the ΔΔ configuration in the deuteron, with an estimated probability of 1%, yields a photon cross section of the order of 1 μb at 1-2 GeV photon energy.
