Abstract
KEMPNER'S1 2 3 4 reports of the therapeutic value of a rice and fruit diet in hypertension led to a renewed interest in the dietary treatment of this disorder. Further investigations of the Kempner regimen by other workers have not resulted in any general agreement regarding the beneficial effects.5 6 7 8 9 10 The present study has been carried out in an effort to evaluate the effects and possible mechanism of action of the Kempner rice diet.The great variability of both normal and elevated blood pressures is well known.
