Abstract
A winter series of plankton hauls taken in Godthaab fjord, West Greenland, augmented by samples from the summers of 1942, 1943, and 1944, revealed 22 species of copepods in the upper 150 m. The life cycles for C. finmarchicus s. str. and C. glacialis show that both species breed in Godthaab fjord, the cycles differing slightly in the outer and inner fjords. Study of adult males of both species suggests that the peaks of fertilization are largely separated in time, although there is some overlapping. Factors contributing to the complexity of the genus Calanus in Godthaab fjord are discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
