Abstract
We report a 72-year-old man on haemodialysis who presented with multiple abscesses on his lower legs. Routine bacterial culture of abscess pus was reported as ‘sterile’ after 48 h, leading to the suspicion of a mycobacterial infection. Skin biopsy taken for mycobacterial microscopy and culture isolated a heavy growth of Mycobacterium abscessus. Keywords
