Abstract
Improvements to make the Neptel2 instrument of more practical use by improving its stability are described, It was found that the yarn imperfections measured by the instrument are very short in nature. are not influenced by medium and long term variability, and that the variation in the number of imperfections between different yarn numbers of the same cotton and processing organization very closely follows a square root law. Operating procedures with the new lamp power supply and other modifica tions are described. Keywords
