Abstract
Over the past two years a number of field studies of protozoan diseases in Costelytra zealandica (White) have been undertaken. Information has been gained on the distribution of these diseases in New Zealand, the incidence of infection in the life cycle and in populations of grass grub transmission of the organisms, and the effects of each protozoan species on growth, development, and mortality of grass grub. The results of these preliminary investigations are discussed. Keywords
