RETINOBLASTOMA IN HOMOLOGOUS EYES OF IDENTICAL TWINS

Abstract
The occurrence of neuroblastoma in homologous eyes of twins has not been reported so far as I can learn by search of the literature. In 1922, twin girls were brought to the Mayo Clinic, one of whom had a tumor in the left eye and the other a tumor in each eye. There are several reasons for considering these girls identical or enzygotic twins. The occurrence of the tumors in similar situations in the left eyes lends support to the theory that these tumors develop from fetal rests that probably go back to the single ovum from which such twins develop. REPORT OF CASE The twins, Charlotte and Charlene, were born at full term, without any difficulty in delivery.
