Absorption and Excretion of Terramycin in Humans: Comparison with Aureomycin and Chloramphenicol.

Abstract
Comparative absorption and excretion studies in humans revealed that terramycin, admd. orally, achieved serum concns. of the same order as aureomycin and about 1/5 those of chloramphenicol with comparable doses. Terramycin was excreted in high concn. in the urine, and 8% of an oral dose was recovered in active form in the urine in 24 hrs. Terramycin was found in low concn. in cerebrospinal, joint, ascitic, and pleural fluid after oral admn.
