INFLUENCE OF SUNLIGHT ON METRIBUZIN INJURY TO TRANSPLANTED TOMATOES

Abstract
Metribuzin (4-amino-6-tert-butyl-3-(methylthio)-as-triazin-5(4H)-one), applied alone or following soil-incorporated treatments of dinitroaniline-type herbicides to transplanted tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) in field experiments over a 3-yr period, 1974–76 inclusive, showed that application following 72 h of cloudy conditions resulted in delayed maturity and reduced yields in some years. Pretreatment with a dinitoraniline herbicide did not increase metribuzin phytotoxicity in these experiments.
