Alcohol Increases Bromocriptine's Side Effects

To the Editor: It is well known that bromocriptine, particularly at high doses (10 to 60 mg per day), can cause alcohol intolerance.1 , 2 We have recently seen two patients who reported side effects at low doses and who found that, on abstaining from alcohol, they were able to tolerate higher levels of bromocriptine, with marked reduction in severity and frequency of symptoms.Patient 1, a 24-year-old West Indian woman, presented with amenorrhea and galactorrhea.
