Abstract
The usual G index generalizations assume that the response alternatives are the same for all items. Here an attempt is made to overcome that limitation without resorting to dichotomization of the items for cases where the number of response alternatives may differ. This requires the assumption that the influence of the verbal labels of the alternatives are of minor importance. Keywords
