Abstract
Böttcher's formula, correlating dielectric parameters of powder and bulk, has been studied under different experimental conditions such as particle size, shape, packing fraction of the powders and their permittivities and dielectric losses. The experimental results show that the formula gives good accuracy for low permittivity (less, similar 7) but deviations occur for high permittivities at low packing fractions (<05). The accuracy for loss determination is, however, less (about 10 to 30%). Possible explanations are suggested for the observed deviations of the dielectric data from Böttcher's formula. Keywords
