Abstract
Hartree-Fock calculations have been made for the configurations of Sc I and , , and of La I. Attention is drawn to the variation of atomic quantities which influence hyperfine structures owing to the LS-term dependence of the radial wave functions. Theoretical calculations of the level structure of of La I are also presented.
