Abstract
To the Editor:— The article by Sbar and Schlant, "Dipyridamole in Angina Pectoris," should not be considered a negative result but rather an inconclusive result. At least one point deserves comment. Two of the parameters used in judging the effect of therapy, the frequency of attack and the number of nitroglycerine tablets used, could have been expresssed in quantitative terms. I do not know what the result of the study would have been had this been done but such quantitative treatment would have permitted a more sensitive analysis of the findings. Even more important, however, is that the number of subjects reported in this study is so small as to greatly reduce the power of the test and make almost inevitable a type two error, the probability of accepting a null hypothesis when it may indeed be false.
