Abstract
The constituents of the wood of A. selaginoides and A. cupressoides as well as a neutral oil from the wood of C. pisifera were investigated. From the water soluble fraction of A. selaginoides L-arabinose as well as a new phenolic substance (C17 H18 O7) was isolated. The acid fraction contained high molecular weight crystalline fatty acids. The chief neutral fraction yielded a cardenolide and a cardenolide alcohol. The cardenolide alcohol mixture can be separated chromatographically into crystalline a and 6 fractions and an X cardenolide alcohol can be extracted from these. The distillation residue yielded hinokiol and B-sitosterol. From A. cupressoides an analog of L-arabinose was isolated containing high molecular weight crystalline fatty acids. Cedren, a cardenolide, together with 3 crystalline cardenolides and hinokiol, was also isolated. The neutral oil from C. pisifera contained a cardenolide and 3 crystalline cardenolide alcohols. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
