Pulsed-r.f. slot-antenna breakdown controlled by preionisation and diffusion

Abstract
The formative time lag for pulsed-r.f. breakdown is implicitly dependent on pulse-repetition rate and gas pressure because these parameters control preionisation level and diffusion losses. Experimental results in helium show that this dependence is in accordance with theoretical predictions.
