N-Vinyl as N-H Protecting Group. A Convenient Synthesis of Myosmine.

Abstract
N-vinylpyrrolidone was condensed with nicotinate. The condensation product was treated with boiling concentrated HCl. After extraction of bases and distillation, myosmine, a tobacco alkaloid, was obtained in a 63% yield.
