Abstract
The sensitivity to UV light and phototreactivating ability of cultured fish clone cells (CAF-MM1 [Carassius auratus-MM1 cells]) were investigated. Dose-survival relationship curves were obtained using the colony-forming technique at various postirradiation temperatures (33, 26 and 20.degree. C). At 36.degree. C the values of Do [median lethal dose], Dq [quasi-threshold dose] and the extrapolation number (n) were 1.74 J/m2, 2.62 J/m2 and 4.5, respectively; no marked differences in these values were found among different temperatures. The CAF-MM1 cells apparently are more sensitive to UV than most of the usual cultured mammalian cells reported. Visible light illumination after UV irradiation produced a marked increase in survival. From4 h after UV irradiation the effect of visible light gradually decreased. No photoreactivation effects were observed beyond about 30 h. Caffeine increased UV sensitivity of the CAF-MM1 cells. The cells apparently have some caffeine-sensitive dark repair mechanisms. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
