Abstract
A homogeneous catalytic hydrogenation system can be prepared by reaction of NiCl2 · 6 H2O or CoCl · 6 H2O with NaBH4 in dimethylformamide or dimethylacetamide. This system is a quite efficient catalyst for hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds under mild conditions but it is very sensitive to traces of air. Reaction rates r up to 15 (mmol · 1-1 · min-1) were observed. 1,3-Cyclohexadiene is very selectively hydrogenated to cyclohexene in dimethylacetamide.Keywords
