Abstract
First-instar larvae of the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), exposed to sources of colored light containing a high percentage of infrared, responded by going to the source with the shortest wavelength. When larvae were given a choice of colored light with high and low transmission of infrared, they went to the source of shortest wavelength with least infrared. The larvae were most attracted to near ultraviolet and repelled by infrared in combination with visible light.
