Abstract
The role played by the exchange interaction in the scattering of electrons from magnetic crystals has not been fully appreciated until recently. In this paper, we show that the interference between the Coulomb and the exchange scattering potentials can lead to large polarizations of a beam of elastically scattered low-energy electrons. A double-scattering experiment that can measure this effect is described. Keywords
