High-Resolution Studies of (d,p) Reactions onCd114andIn115

Abstract
Energy and angular distributions from 12-MeV deuteron-induced (d,p) reactions on Cd114 and In115 were measured with ∼8-keV energy resolution. In In115(d,p) essentially all components of the (πg921) (νh112) configuration are located, and I values are estimated from sum rules. I values for many members of the (πg921) (νd32) and (πg921) (νs12) are determined from sum rules and the presence or absence of l=0 and l=2 mixing. As in a previous study of Pd(d,p), there is a large excess of g72 and a large deficiency of h112 strength relative to the isotonic tin nucleus (Sn116) and expectations from nuclear-structure theory. The most obvious experimental explanations for this discrepancy are discussed and found not to be applicable.
