Abstract
Heroin addicts participating in a methadone maintenance treatment program were administered the I-E scale during the first and ninth weeks of the program; a matched control group of addicts on a waiting list for the same program was also tested and retested. Upon retest, the experimental group showed a statistically significant increase in the direction of internality, while the control group did not give evidence of such an increase. Keywords
