Abstract
The Authors performed an hystochemical research for lipids and steroids on corpus luteum of Torpedo marmorata (ovoviviparous species) and Scylliorhinus ca-nicula (viviparous species), whose morphological likeness with those of Amniota was long since recognized. The active lipidic and steroid metabolism of luteal cells remarked, and, on the other hand, the deep modifications of oviduct during pregnancy both in viviparous and ovoviparous species, makc them suggest an endocrine activity of the Selachian corpus luteum.
