Abstract
Epstein et al. (April 19 issue)* provide strong evidence that the care of patients of low socioeconomic status costs more than the care of other patients. In this age of limited medical resources, research of this type is essential to identify areas that require special attention to control costs. However, Epstein et al. mention only briefly one feature common to many patients of low socioeconomic status — low educational status. Keywords
