Preparation, identification, and crystal structure of a novel hexanuclear iridium–copper cluster complex

Abstract
Cu4Ir2(PPh3)2(CCPh)8 has been synthesized from IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2 and [Cu(CCPh)]n and its molecular structure determined via X-ray diffraction; the six metal atoms define an octahedron in which two PPh3Ir moieties are mutually trans, four (CCPh) units are σ-bonded to each Ir atom, and two (CCPh) units (one from each Ir) from π-linkages to each of the four equatorial copper atoms.
